Bringing good bowls to good dogs with Pet Junkie

Pet Junkie is a boutique pet brand best known for its elevated dog bowls — feeders designed to look like home decor rather than pet gear — alongside other pet-themed home goods and accessories. Wild Operation has worked with Pet Junkie across nearly every part of its e-commerce operation, from replatforming the store to manufacturing and importing.

Moving from Magento to Shopify

Pet Junkie’s store originally ran on Magento. Magento can do almost anything, but it asks a lot in return: hosting, security patches, and ongoing maintenance that a small team ends up carrying. We migrated the store to Shopify, a hosted platform that handles infrastructure, security, and payment processing out of the box, so the team could spend its time on products and customers instead of servers.

A storefront that fits the brand

A stock theme wasn’t going to work for a brand built on design. We extensively customized Pet Junkie’s Shopify theme so the storefront reflects the products it sells — clean, warm, and focused on the bowls. We also set up and configured the Shopify apps the store needed to run day to day.

Good photography can make or break any website, but this is especially true in e-commerce. We assisted with product photography and worked with Ashley Gieseking for top-tier lifestyle photography.

Selling on Amazon, Walmart, and Google

Not every customer starts their search on a brand’s own website. We set up Pet Junkie’s marketplace accounts with Amazon and Walmart, and configured a Google Merchant Center account with product feeds, so the catalog stays synced and products appear in Google Shopping.

These platforms demand a lot from their selling partners. Wild Operation helped navigate the requirements and complexity of Amazon FBA and Walmart Fulfillment Services.

Shipping, fulfillment, and inventory management

Getting a bowl from the warehouse to a doorstep involves more configuration than most store owners expect. We customized Pet Junkie’s shipping profiles to match how its products actually pack and ship, and integrated the store with a third-party logistics (3PL) provider so orders flow to fulfillment automatically.

Navigating inventory management for an e-commerce brand is no small task. Wild Operation helped with various inventory management platforms, custom internal software to plan purchase orders, and third-party apps that assist with both Amazon FBA and Shopify sales analytics.

Beyond the website and marketplaces

Running an e-commerce brand consists of so much more than the website itself. We’ve touched on much of that above, but many other integrations are necessary to elevate an e-commerce brand. We helped create automated email flows and campaigns in Klaviyo, integrated with Meta for shopping ads, and much more.

Some of our work with Pet Junkie even happened away from the screen entirely. We consulted on manufacturing and importing — the sourcing side of getting a physical product line made and into the country.

E-commerce is rarely just a website. It’s a platform, a storefront, marketplaces, feeds, shipping, and a supply chain, and they all have to work together. That range is what our e-commerce development work covers. If your store has outgrown its platform — or the pieces around it aren’t connecting — contact us.
